First room had a sewage-like smell, thankfully they switched us to a better one, but it was still lacking basic amenities like hooks for towels and no furniture beyond the beds. The floor tiles were broken along one side, posing a safety risk, and there was a distinct lack of cleanliness—old towels with holes and a fireplace that wouldn’t light left much to be desired.

the peaceful ambiance paired with breathtaking views of the mountains made my stay truly delightful, and I loved how close the hotel was to beautiful spots like Jardines Secretos, which is just a quick walk away for a morning stroll.

the first room we got smelled like a sewage back up, absolutely delightful, isn't it? the second room was lacking hooks or seats—how can you call it a hotel? after all that, no complimentary upgrade or special treat for my trouble. I almost thought about giving a good review, but I just couldn't.

The grounds of Hotel De Montana El Pelicano are stunning, featuring beautiful gardens and breathtaking views of the Talamanca mountains. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making my stay even more enjoyable and memorable, especially with their attentiveness during meals.

Steep driveways can be a challenge.

Our Standard Double Room had two bunk beds and a double bed. Not the comfiest, but we managed a decent rest after hiking. Liked the grippy shower tiles and good water pressure. The pine board walls gave the room a nice smell. Views of the mountains from the window were a plus! Clean and well-maintained overall. Just keep in mind it's a bit of a trek to Chirripo trailhead.

I loved the cozy wood stove in our room and the stunning grounds were a perfect escape! However, be prepared for thin walls that let in noise from neighbors.

It was just a well-suited match for a flash stay in San Isidro De El General with value for money. The breakfast was super fresh and set us up nicely for the day. Get ready for some steep driveways if you're bringing a car.
